Obituary for Lindsey

Alonzo"Lon" Lindsey, 74, a resident of Albuquerque for 15 years, died Monday, April 12, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Jean Lindsey of the family home; daughters, Liz Troy of Socorro, Judy Redman of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jean Thurow of Albuquerque; seven grandsons, Wayne, Ian, Lindsey, Jason, Justin, Jordan, and William; and brother, Bill Lindsey of Jackson Hole, WY. Mr. Lindsey served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and he was awarded the Purple Heart. He spent most of his adult life in Los Alamos, NM, where he served in the Pro Force. He and his wife retired to Albuquerque 15 years ago so they could be closer to their children and grandchildren. Mr. Lindsey was a lifelong athlete and sports fan, especially enjoying golf and coaching Little League baseball. He was also a dedicated bridge player, holding the rank of Gold Life Master. He and his beloved wife, Jean, just celebrated their 50th anniversary on January 4, 1999. He was a gentle, gentleman who was always kind towards others. Memorial services will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m., at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 318 Silver SW, with Canon Byron D. McDougall officiating. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
