Obituary for Childs

Richard Dale Childs, 78, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died suddenly in his home Friday, April 9, 1999. He is survived by three sons, Richard William Childs of Anthony, NM, Clayton Fisher Childs and his wife, Robbie of Albuquerque, Mark Cecil Childs of Hawaii; six grandchildren, Julie Childs of Albuquerque, Elizabeth Rudin and her husband, Zurich of Germany, Jennifer Rehren and her husband, William, Kelly and Richard Hillman, all of Albuquerque; and one great-grandson, Dominic Rudin of Germany. He is also survived by one brother, Robert William Childs and his wife, Ginner of Deer River, MN; nephews, John Childs of Alaska, Mike Proctor and his wife, Brenda, and Bill Proctor, all of California; niece, Bobbie Jo Childs and her four sons of Arizona;"like a son", Chuck Dobbs and his wife, Kathy, son, Brehnden, all of Albuquerque; longtime friends and roommate, Phil Von Klemz; Sammy; and many dear friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed. Richard was born in Wymore, Nebraska on February 20, 1921. He was a WWII veteran in the US Army Air Corp, a Mason, and avid fisherman and sports enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Hattie Blanche Childs; sister, Jean Marie Proctor; niece, Dottie Jean Childs; and nephew, Dale Childs. Cremation has taken place, pursuant to his request. Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 28, 1999, 1:30 p.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE. In lieu of flowers, family members request donations be made on his behalf to the American Cancer Society of the Animal Humane Society.
