Derrick John Herrera, 20, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 5, 1999. Derrick is survived by his parents, Samuel and Lucy Herrera and John Naranjo and Gloria Holland; two sisters, Elaine Schmitt and husband, Steve and Yvette Herrera; four brothers, Sammy Herrera, Matthew Holland, Ben and Angelo Naranjo; maternal grandmothers, Ramona Paster and husband, Phil, Sara Holland; paternal great-grandmother, Mercedes Herrera; two nieces, Renee Schmitt and Megan Schmitt; one nephew, Steven Schmitt; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Derrick was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Thursday evening, 7:00 p.m., at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW, with visitation at the church after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning, 10:00 a.m., at St. Jude Catholic Church with visitation after 9:30 a.m. with Father John Conway, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Antonio Silva, Fernando Llamas, Rudy Llamas, Rudy Llamas, Sr., Pat Herrera, and Paul Herrera. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of arrangements.
