Obituary for Montoya

Espiridion G. Montoya, age 83, passed away December 5, 2000 at the Veterans Hospital following an illness. Mr. Montoya as born March 12, 1917 in Anton Chico, NM to the home of Miguel and Rebecca Gallegos Montoya. He was reared and attended schools in Vaughn, NM. Mr. Montoya was a World War II Veteran serving in the Unites States Army. Espiridion was a long time Vaughn businessman where he owned and operated the Yucca Motel and the Texaco gas station. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn. Espiridion is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Marquez Montoya; and a brother. Survivors include his children, Mike Montoya and wife, Cindy of Vaughn, Rebecca Montoya-Castro and husband, Ed of Chicago, IL and Thomas Speedy Montoya and wife, Belen of Amarillo, TX. Also surviving are two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be celebrated on Friday at 5:30 p.m. from St. Mary's Church in Vaughn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., also at the Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughan. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
