Obituary for Bailey

Jimmie Wayne Bailey, a committed Christian husband, father, grandfather, and friend, left this world to join his Savior on Sunday, October 15, 2000. Jim was born October 20, 1929 in Corbin, Kentucky and moved to Albuquerque, where he graduated from AHS in 1947. He joined the Navy where he served as a Chief Air Traffic Controller in England, Japan, aboard ship and several stateside stations. After retirement, he joined FAA ARTCC in Albuquerque. Jim was a born again former member of Temple Baptist Church where he helped to found Temple Baptist Academy and served ten years as the first principal. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Bill Bailey; his mother, Marcella Lanier; brother, Roger; and a baby granddaughter, Amanda Melidones. He is survived by Dolores Bailey, his wife of 48 years; sons, Michael Bailey and wife, Linda of Tucson, AZ, Billy Bailey and fiancée, Sandra of Albuquerque; daughters, Kathy Melidones and husband, Bill of Tijeras, Sharon Pedersen and husband, Tim of Tucson, AZ, Karen Bailey and husband, George of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Nicholas and Jake Melidones, Blake and Myles Bailey, and Morgan, Lance, Madison, and Bailey Pedersen; sisters, June Cathey and Margaret Rehrer, both of California; special aunt, Anna Glover of Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Friday, October 20, 2000, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, October 21, 2000, 10:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 101 Broadway SE, with Rev. Fred Gurule and Robert Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
