Obituary for Collier

Richard Collier, 69, passed away October 15, 2000 at the Veteran's Medical Center in Albuquerque. He was born on March 31, 1931 to the late William and Lula (Stokes) Collier in Memphis, TN. Mr. Collier served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force from 1948 to 1964, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He is survived by his wife, Rose Collier; two daughters, Linda Daye of Bellmont Shore, CA and Suzette Collier-Martinez of Albuquerque; four sons, Louis G. Chavez of Kirksville, MO, Juan L. Chavez of Poway, CA, Esequiel Ricardo Chavez and Richard Collier Jr., both of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 18, 2000, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in Fern Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. with Martha Herrera officiating. A Committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors. Strong-Thorne Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
