Obituary for Miller

Joseph Southworth (Joe) Miller, long-time resident of Las Cruces and Albuquerque, died peacefully at the age of 86 in Albuquerque on July 9, 2000. Born in Chicago in 1914, he graduated from Yale University in 1936 and pursued a career in accounting. He moved with his family to New Mexico in 1952 to work at Sandia Corporation. After retiring in 1974, Joe and his wife moved to Las Cruces and Good Samaritan Village where he pursued his many interests, enjoyed the company of family and friends, and competed both locally and nationally in Senior Olympic Swimming events. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Odessa of Las Cruces; sons, Hank and Bo; daughters-in-law, Rosemary and Kathleen; and granddaughter, Eldaa, all of Albuquerque. The family will be holding private services. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in his name to Yale University or to the charity of your choice.
