Gilbert Barela, 38, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away suddenly on July 13, 2000. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Cassandra Barela; and three children, Isabel, Felicia, and Jeaneva. Also surviving are his parents, Isabel and Amador Barela; four brothers, Johnny Barela, Fidel Barela, Amador Barela and wife, Melinda, and Filomeno Barela; and five sisters, Gloria Montano and husband, Paul, Katy Garcia, Yolanda Montano and husband, Raymond, Sandra Barela, and Theresa Fay and husband, Robert. Friends may visit Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Sunday evening, 7:00 p.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday Morning at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Cremation to follow.
