Obituary for Peterson

Chris Torger Peterson, age 31, died in Santa Fe on Saturday, July 8, 2000. He was born in River Falls, WI on April 27, 1969. Chris graduated from Pojoaque High School in 1987, received his Bachelor's degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1991, and in 1994, earned his Master's degree from New Mexico State University. He was a teacher and a coach at Pojoaque High School for five years and had also taught at Espanola. Chris' passions were the sports he loved to play, especially soccer and basketball. He was a star athlete while attending high school and was a three sport state allstar his senior years. He is survived by his mother, Ann Peterson of Pojoaque; father, Bruce Peterson of Estancia, NM; brothers, Nathan Peterson of Tucson, AZ, Matthew Peterson of Estancia; sisters, Andrea Johnston, Ellen Marie Verlinde, Rochester, NY; daughter, Katie Clay of Santa Fe; many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and countless friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Chris T. Peterson Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Pojoaque High School, Pojoaque, NM 87501. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at Pojoaque High School Gymnasium.
