Mr. Ben Nieto Jr., 74, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 9, 2000. Mr. Nieto was the beloved husband of 54 years to Mrs. Dolores Nieto. He is also survived by two daughters, Cynthania Nieto, California and Janice Valverde and husband, Trinidad of California; four sons, Richard Nieto of Hawaii, Stephen Nieto, Ben Nieto III and John Nieto; four sisters, Esther Sanchez and husband, Joe, Lupe Vigil and husband, Pete, Rorie Marez and Charlene Castillo; five brothers, Lawrence Nieto and wife, Carla, Bruce Nieto and wife, Marianne, Jimmy Nieto and wife, Edwina, Tony Nieto and wife, Dorothy and Manuel Nieto and wife, Vicky; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Nieto was a member of the Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening, 7:00 p.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW, with visitation at the church after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, 9:00 a.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church with final viewing at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father Daniel Balizan, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. with Miliary Honors. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Nieto, Bruce Nieto, Jimmy Nieto, Tony Nieto, Manuel Nieto and Nick Nieto. Honorary will be Tony Flores, Johnny Flores, Eddie Gonzales and Frank Gonzales. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of the arrangements.
