Obituary for Hesselden

Donald R. was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 15, 1921, the fourth son of J.W. Hesselden and Josephine Young Hesselden. At the time of his death, on February 13, 2000, he lived in Rio Rancho, NM with his wife, Elizabeth. He was a veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart in Normandy. He graduated from Albuquerque High School and attended the University of New Mexico. For many years he was a general contractor with Adrian R."Mickey" Hesselden, one of his older brothers, in the construction of houses, school and office buildings all over New Mexico. He was a former president of the Associated General Contractors of New Mexico. His youngest sister, Josephine H. Ladd, his brother, George W."Buddy" Hesselden, and Jack Hesselden predeceased him. Besides his widow, he is survived by his son, Kurt, his wife, Vivian; his daughter, Sylvia; and his son, Rick; his grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and his brother, Mickey Hesselden, his wife Eva; his twin sisters, Rita Green and Patricia Hickman and B. B. Hickman, her husband; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. At his request his cremains have been committed privately and there will be no services.
