Obituary for Rogers

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday September 06, 2000

In the quiet, still, middle hours of the night, we were gathered in a"watch of love" around the bedside of our beloved"Mother Moo." The sorrow was great, but the love was greater still, as the heart of our lives stopped, free from the bonds of earth. This precious mother, wife, sister and friend is receiving now, in full measure, pressed down and overflowing, the reward of her abundant love, so freely given away for her lifetime. This heritage of love and generosity is the trust given to the daughters of Alfreda Bailey Rogers, who was born May 13, 1927 in Paragould, AR. Married to our father, William Alfred Rogers, for 43 years, they created a secure and loving home environment in which to grow. Daddy preceded her in death, January 30, 1990. He then passed the care of the"home fires" to Mother. Alfreda was also preceded in death by her father, mother, a sister, and half-brother. Mother is survived by four daughters, Leslie Gail Michaelson and her husband, Monte of Okeene, OK, Jo Alison Serrano and her husband, Marty, Phyllis Jean Lermuseaux and her husband, Kurt, and Robin Lynn Martin of the Albuquerque area; grandchildren, Loryn Leigh Bowen, Dana Jo Kellner, Jason and Amy Lermuseaux, Kyle William and Rachel Ann Martin and their father, Barry Martin; great-grandchildren, Madeline Paige and Aaron Thomas. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Rogers name to Lovelace Hospice, 5400 Gibson Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, (505) 343-6374 or to the American Cancer Society, 5800 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, (505) 260-2105. Cremation arrangements by the Sunrise Society of New Mexico, 891-8200. A private memorial service and interment will be Friday, September 8, 2000, 11:30 a.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest for eternity with her loving husband.
