Obituary for Abeita

Juan B. Abeita, 75 of Isleta Pueblo, suddenly passed away September 2, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Lugarda; his children, Lupita Lucero, Elizabeth Coochwytwa, Rupert Abeita, Donnie Trujillo, Lonnie Trujillo, Ronald Trujillo, Gary Trujillo, Roxanna Garcia; his brother, Phillip Abeita; his sister, Lupita Juancho; and his former wife, Eleanor Abeita; along with 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Juan B. Abeita was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Abeita. Juan Abeita proudly served in World War II as a U.S. Marine. When he retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Juan started his own company, J.B. Abeita Construction. Juan gained much respect in the community, holding various committee seats and served as tribal governor. He was currently serving as president of the tribal council. Juan lived a very prosperous life."Tata" enjoyed playing golf and doing crossword puzzles. He will be deeply missed.
