Penelope Papafrangos Katson, born in Springfield, MA, February 16, 1914, passed away August 31, 2000 in Albuquerque, after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Virgil Katson. She is survived by her six daughters, JoAnn Simpson of Corte Madera, CA, Connie Bransilver of Naples, FL, Kristina Katson of Oakland, CA, Penny Pickett of Fairfax, VA, Roberta Katson of Reston, VA, and Denise Katson of San Anselmo, CA; her sister, Mary Temple of Denver, CO; her brother, Charles Papafrangos of Okmulgee, OK; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and active in many community organizations. She was an editor of books and manuscripts for many years. A Trisagion will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 4, 2000, with visitation until 9:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2000, at St. George Orthodox Church, 308 High St. SE. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
