Obituary for Burns

Annie Florence Burns, born in Elizabethtown, NM, June 19, 1905, passed away April 7, 2000 in Albuquerque at the age of 94. She attended Harwood Girls School in Albuquerque, Loretto Academy in Santa Fe, graduating from Clayton High School. She taught school prior to her marriage to William Burns in 1927, who preceded her in death in November 1987. Mrs. Burns is survived by sisters, Irene Gonzales, Connie Romero and husband, Joe, Lucy Garza, brother, James Ornelas, her children, Georgia Chavez and husband Johnnie, William Burns and wife, Jeannie, Theresa Laberge and husband John, Herman Burns and Clara Gonzales, Leanna Cotinola and husband, Joe, James Burns and wife, Ramona, Norman Burns and wife Sylvia, 24 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren. She will lie in state at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday. The Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Chavez, Bob Jojola, Rick Burns, Joseph Cotinola, Anthony Burns, Richard Burns, and Donald Burns serving as casket bearers. Honorary bearers will be Ronald Chavez, Steve Burns, Michael Burns, and Christopher Cotinola. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 714 4th S.W., 87102.
