Obituary for Lippke

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Saturday September 30, 2000

Ruth Magdalena Lippke, 81, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2000 at home in Albuquerque after a lengthy illness. She was born August 22, 1919 in Plauen, Saxony, Germany, the only daughter of Ernst and Paula Landschultz. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years in January of this year and by her parents and her infant daughter, Edith. She is survived by her son, Michael Rudolf and his wife Rebecca and last born son Mark Daniel; daughter Dorothea (Angela Stone) and her husband John Stone; grandchildren Andrew Casares, Michael Allen and his wife Trina and their newborn son, Seven West; David Nathan and Christine Elaine and her husband Jeff Hansen and their four children, Meaghan, Heather, Jeffrey and Emily, who all adored her. Ruth was a devoted mother and wife who loved her husband and children. Ruth served a successful mission for the L.D.S. Church (Mormon) in Berlin where she also served joyfully in numerous positions of leadership and responsibility. Ruth and family escaped from East Germany and came to her beloved America in 1952. Ruth became a naturalized American citizen in 1956. The family settled in Albuquerque in 1958 and Ruth received her nursing license shortly thereafter, which profession she held for decades. Ruth gave countless hours of her time, energy and service to her family and others and gave of her substance freely, never expecting to be paid back. Her family and the Gospel of Jesus Christ came first in her life. Her name and her family's name is engraved on the American Wall of Honor on Ellis Island by N.Y.C. Her passing will leave a void in the life of her family and friends and is a link with a world we will never know. The sorrow of her loss is mitigated by the joy in knowing that she is now with her husband, Rudolf, and will go on to eternal joy and perfection forever, having been married in the Holy Temple of God for time and eternity long ago. In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated. A short Memorial Service with Bishop Marlin McNeil presiding will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30th at the Haines St. Chapel, 5709 Haines NE.
