Obituary for Kingston

Mettie C. Kingston, 95, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2000 in Bowie, MD at her grandson's home where she had been living the past three years. Ms. Kingston, a native of Fulton, KY, came to Albuquerque in 1924 with her husband, David H. Kingston, and had been a resident since that time. In addition to her grandson, Bill Kingston of Bowie, MD, her immediate family members include Sharon Watkins of Rockport, TX; three great-grandchildren, Michelle Brandt, Anthony Watkins and Christopher Watkins; and two great-great-grandchildren, Michael Brandt and Reiney Brandt. She is also survived by her brother, former U.S. Rep. E.S. (Johnny) Walker of Albuquerque. Mrs. Kingston was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lew Wallace Chapter; Daughters of the Nile; Eastern Star; and PEO, Chapter V. She was also a member of the Central United Methodist Church and assisted in founding its Friendly Bible Class. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2000. Pallbearers are Richard Steele, William Marten, Clemens Charlatan, Ernest Lopez, and Milton Godwin. John Marshall is an Honorary Pallbearer. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family requests donations be sent to Central United Methodist Church for any of its programs. Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
