Obituary for Ortiz

Edward B."Lalo" Ortiz, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 22, 2000. He is survived by his brother, Frank O. Ortiz; nieces, Frances Perea and husband, Paul, all of Albuquerque, Kathy Undiks and husband, Francisco of Aurora, CO and Clarissa Ortiz; and nephew, Frank M. Ortiz, both of Albuquerque. Mr. Ortiz was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary A. Ortiz in 1984; and nephew, Eddie F. Ortiz. He was employed as an inspector for 45 years with Southern Union Natural Gas Company. Mr. Ortiz was a longtime member at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. Mr. Ortiz enjoyed bowling. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Ruben Barela reciting. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont Ave. NE, with Father Johnny Lee Chavez, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Barker, Marty Neel, Louie Baldonado, Pete Chavez, Fred Garcia and Servero Trujillo. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association - NM Affiliate, 6301 Forest Hills Dr. NE, 87110. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. until Rosary.
