Obituary for Nieman

Charles E. Nieman, age 76, died Monday afternoon, April 25, 2000, at his home in Santa Fe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mercedes; brother, Larry B. Nieman; and his sister, Helen A. Nieman. Mr. Nieman was born April 11, 1924 in Trinidad, CO, the son of the late Charles A. and Dora (Yuszkiewich) Nieman. He was a lifelong resident of New Mexico. A graduate of Santa Fe High School (Class of 1942), Mr. Nieman served in the Pacific Theater in the US Navy during World War II. Returning from the war, he joined the Mountain Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company. He ultimately retired from the company as a supervisor in 1976, following the death of his beloved wife, Mercedes. He is survived by his four children, Charles L. of Kent, OH, Michael B. of Albuquerque, Karen A. Aragon of Parker, CO, and Randall T. of Santa Fe. He is also survived by seven grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 1, 10:00 a.m., at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at St. Francis Cathedral. Interment will be private and will be accomplished at a later date when all family members can be present. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Patient Advocacy Program at St. Vincent Hospital or your favorite charity.
