Obituary for Covington

William (Bill) D. Covington, 74, a resident of Belen, passed away at the VA Hospital on Tuesday, April 25, 2000. He was a member of the Belen Christian Church. Bill graduated from Clovis High School and then served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943-1948. After the service he attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. Bill then worked for U.S. West Communications, retiring in 1983 after 35 years of outstanding service. Bill was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Joan of the family home in Belen; his five children, Debbie Goss and her husband, Wes of Sandia Park, NM, Jack and his wife, Pam of Rio Rancho, Jeannie Moore and her husband, James of Celina, TX, Sharon Walker and her husband, Scott and Paula Eubank and her husband, Rick of Los Chavez, NM; his 14 grandchildren, Karen, Kevin, Robert, Amanda, Michael, Cindy, Steven, Derek, Sarah, Brittany, David, Jessica, Olivia, and Sydney; three brothers, Ross and his wife, Jimmie, Albin and his wife, Fran, Tom and his wife, Nancy; one sister, Marie Studstill and her husband, Jim. Bill is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at the Belen Christian Church on 11th and Dillon. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
