Obituary for Anaya

Claudine S. Anaya, age 73, passed away April 25, 2000 at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Claudine was born May 18, 1926 in Duran, NM to the home of Serapio and Juanita Sanchez. She was reared and attended schools in Duran. Claudine worked as a waitress in Vaughn for many years and also worked for Dr. Lapp in Vaughn for several years. She had been a resident of Albuquerque for the past five years. Claudine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam F. Anaya; her only two grandchildren, Joseph Edward Apodaca and Corrina Anaya; and her brother, Joe V. Sanchez. Survivors include her daughter, Helen Apodaca and Valentine Lopez of Clovis; and her son, Sammy Anaya Jr. and wife, Shirley of Texas; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Joseph Montiego. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Tillie Chavez of Albuquerque, Ernestine Zaragoza of Arizona, Merlinda Mendoza of Arizona, Ida Sanchez of Albuquerque, Abran Sanchez of California, Julian Sanchez of Arizona, Henry Sanchez of T or C, and Max Sanchez of Vaughn. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Bernie Sanchez of Santa Rosa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. John the Baptist Church in Duran. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. also from St. John the Baptist Church with Father Patrick Duffy officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
