Mrs. Mencia A. Chavez died Saturday in Albuquerque at the age of 93. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church. She is survived by her son, Manuel A. Chavez and wife, Jennie of Albuquerque; daughter, Nicki Garcia and husband, Edward of Tacoma, WA; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Chavez will be held on Wednesday at the Ascension Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Pajarito Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Chavez, Marty Chavez, Chris Garcia, Cal Cordova, Charlie Moya and Frank Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus Cordova and Mario Chavez. A Rosary for Mrs. Chavez will be recited on Tuesday evening, 7:00 p.m., at the Ascension Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Arrangements by Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.
