Ramon L. Maldonado"Ray, 71, a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, was called home to be with the Lord, Monday, April 10, 2000 in West Covina, California. Ray was born March 6, 1929 in Albuquerque to Bernardo and Julia S. Maldonado. Served in the United States Marine Corp., an honor member of the Wood, Wire, and Metal Lathers Union for over 50 years. Resided in Albuquerque until he moved to California, April of 1950. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of 49 years; daughters, Rachel Fernandez and husband, Bob of Downey, CA, Bernice Morton and husband, Frankie of Los Angeles, CA, Angie Serrano and husband, Louie of El Monte, CA; sons, Ray Maldonado and wife, Toni of Covina, CA and Paul Maldonado and wife, Roxanne of Whittier, CA; grandfather to nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; also survived by one sister, Sara Yepiz and husband, Armando of Claremont, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in California and New Mexico. Preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo and Julia S. Maldonado; sister, Rachel Maldonado; and a brother, Celedonio"Sal" Maldonado. Pallbearers were Ray, Paul, and Anthony Maldonado, Louie Sr. and Louie Jr. Serrano and Freddie Lara. Honorary pallbearers were Anthony and Alejandro Maldonado. Rosary was held April 13 at 7:30 p.m., Mass at 9:00 a.m., at St. Alfonso's Catholic Church in East Los Angeles, California. Interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, CA. Guerro and Gutierrez Mortuary were in charge of arrangements.
