Obituary for D'spain

Lalla M. D'Spain, age 89, a 50 year resident of Albuquerque, passed away on April 17, 2000. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Ada Sue D'Spain of Albuquerque, Helen D'Spain of Tajique, NM; nieces, Mary Beth Walker and husband, Henry of Kennewich, WA, Margaret Sue Horton and husband, Joe of Big Spring, TX, Latrice Ann Patterson and husband, Eddy of Flagstaff, AZ, Kay Steffens and husband, Gordon of Albuquerque; nephews, Billy Jeff D'Spain and wife, Maria of Moriarty, NM, David D'Spain and wife, Barbara of Los Lunas, NM and Carllin D'Spain, Jr. of Houston, TX. Lalla served as a Deacon in 1st Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. She graduated from Texas Women's University with a B.A. in Chemistry, graduated from Texas Tech with her Masters Degree in Business Administration. Lalla also worked on a military base in Texas during WWII. She purchased a gift shop in Hilton Hotel in the late 1940's which she sold in the 1960's. For a number of years, she worked for Shoe Make-up and she sold stock and bonds until her death. Lalla was a member of the Pilot Club, Charter member of the Four Hills Country Clubs, she actually played Duplicate Bridge and is fondly remembered by family and friends for entertaining in her home. Visitation will be held Monday, April 24, 2000 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. A Funeral Service will be held in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2000. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Texas Tech Foundation, Inc., College of Business Administration Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 41081, Lubbock, TX 79409. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE, in charge of arrangements.
