Obituary for Richards

Donald R. Richards, 68, a resident of Belen for 27 years, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2000 after a short illness. He was born on October 10, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska. Don retired from the US Airforce after 21 years of distinguished service. He serviced throughout the world, including Vietnam. After receiving an honorable discharge, Don, his wife, Lela, and children moved to Belen where he lived the remainder of his life. Don had many outside interests, which included being an officer and active member of the Moose Lodge #1680, VFW Post 32387, and the American Legion Post 358. Unfortunately, Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lela (Liz) after 45 years of marriage; his son, Walter (Dick) Richards in 1994. He is survived by his loving children, Ernest Richards of Gillette, WY, Sheryl Mobbley and her husband, John of Belen, Cindy Hultgren of Albuquerque, and Charles Richards of Los Lunas; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will be sadly and greatly missed by his many family and friends. Cremation has taken place. No services will be held at Don's request.
