Obituary for Thorp

Roger Walker Thorp, 64, and longtime resident of Albuquerque, died on September 21, 2000. He was born in Hackensack, NJ and graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerque and the University of New Mexico, where he played golf. Mr. Thorp retired from Sandia National Labs in October 1995. He loved skeet shooting and spent many hours at the skeet shooting range. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Thorp in 1997; and his sister, Patricia Reich. Mr. Thorpe is survived by his wife of 32 years, Anita A. Thorp of Albuquerque; son, Roger Steven Thorp of Los Lunas, NM; three step-children, Sheila Byrne and husband, Tom of Lees Summit, MO, Gregg Middaugh and Ann Preece, both of Albuquerque; and a brother, David P. Thorp of Eatontown, NJ. Pallbearers are Gregg Middaugh, Tom Hamilton, Tom Byrne, Pat Nichols, William Rodriguez and Bill Swift. Services are scheduled for Monday, September 25, 10:00 a.m., at Chapel of Sandia, with Rev. Bruno V. Alfieri of Victory Love Fellowship, officiating. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
