Obituary for Atwood

Sylvester Atwood, 69, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2000. He was born in Austin, TX and had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1989. He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Atwood, Sr.; mother, Myrtle Canada; sister, Lillian Rhambo and his brother, Eddie Atwood. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Viola Atwood; daughters, Gina Mares and her husband, J.D., Lee Atwood, S. Marie Chacon and her husband, Herman; sons, Manuel and his wife, Barbara, Marcos and his wife, Vera, all of Albuquerque; brother, James Atwood of Austin, TX; sisters, Lula Mae Bartel of Phoenix, AZ, Myrtle Robertson, Dorothy Newman, Patricia Byrd, all of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Crystal (Kiki) and James Mares, Vanessa and Novella Atwood, Manuel, Jr., Desiree and Anthony Atwood, Marcos, Jr., Violet, Cheyenne and Adonis Atwood; great-grandchild, Elexes Martinez. Sylvester was an electronic tech since 1951. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A Rosary will be held Sunday, September 17, 2000 at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna Road NW, Albuquerque, NM 87105, 836-5011.
