Manuel Pascual Ortiz, 76, a resident of Ft. Bayard Medical Center, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2000 in Ft. Bayard Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted with full Marine Military Honors, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe. Mr. Ortiz was born October 17, 1923 in El Paso, TX. He was the son of Jose Ortiz and Fernanda Barrera Ortiz. Mr. Ortiz is survived by four daughters, Theresa Gant and her husband, Marty of Estacada, OR, Patricia Rodriguez and her husband, Mando of Hillsboro, OR, Christina Treanor and her husband, David of Corbett, OR and Stella Ortiz of Colorado; one brother, Trinidad Ortiz of Albuquerque; one sister, Connie Ruiz of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Mr. Ortiz served in the U.S. Army after graduation from high school. He enjoyed athletics, participating both in baseball and boxing. He was also quite an accomplished artist and carver. Mr. Ortiz will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
