Obituary for Barnard

Dick Barnard, 53, of Clovis, passed away May 13, 2000 in Clovis. Mr. Barnard was born June 16, 1946 in East Orange, New Jersey to the parents of Barney and Ruth Ingalls Barnard. Dick was a lifetime resident of Clovis, and married Debbie McDonald, February 11, 1972 in Portales. He was a Clovis High School graduate in 1965 and a member of Demolay from 1963-1965. In 1966, he started as a switchman for the BN-SF Railroad and currently was a conductor. Dick was a Vietnam Veteran who received three Purple Hearts. He was a lifetime member of the VFW #3280, First United Methodist Church, Men's Breakfast Prayer Group, and a loving husband and father. He was President of UT #1163 in Clovis for BN-SF Railroad. Mr. Barnard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ingalls and Mr. and Mrs. Burton Barnard. He is survived by his spouse, Debbie Barnard of the home; sons, Jeffrey Lee Barnard of San Diego, CA, Christopher Ryan Barnard of Japan, U.S. Navy; parents, Barney and Ruth I. Barnard of Belen; brother, Craig Alan and Tamara Barnard of Albuquerque; sisters, Corby Lynne and Robert Chavez of Belen; nephews, Burton Trembly of Portales, Brett Trembly of Belen; and niece, Caitlin Marie Barnard of Albuquerque. Services were held Tuesday, May 16, 2000 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles F. Bader officiating. Burial was at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stan Wilson, Mike Gray, Bill Ingram, George Prothro, Tom McDonald, Buddy Blue, Joe D. Thrasher, Dwayne Hayter, and Ken Merritt. Honorary pallbearers were co-workers of BN-SF Railroad and friends. Memorials may be made to R.K. Barnard Memorial Fund at Citizens Bank of Clovis.
