Obituary for Jones

Georgia M. Jones, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Friday, May 12, 2000. Georgia is survived by her husband, Donald J. Jones of Albuquerque; two daughters, Carol Ann Jones and fiance, Mark Campbell of Albuquerque and Barbara J. Decker and her husband, Douglas W. Decker of Gallup, NM; one son, Robert W. Jones and partner in life, Monika Martinez both of Albuquerque; three sisters, Irene Mitchell of Provo, Utah, Joanne Colledge of Prescott, AZ, and Mary Murray of Orem, Utah; one brother, John"Jack" Mitchell of St. George, Utah; two grandsons and three granddaughters. Georgia was very active in the community. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The church was a passion of hers and a place where she gave of her time and efforts as a volunteer. Georgia was also a volunteer at the Veteran's Hospital. She was a graduate with honors from Brigham Young University. In her spare time, she was an avid reader, painter and enjoyed handwork. She worked crossword puzzles and loved working in her magnificent garden. Above all she loved and was greatly involved with her grandchildren. Viewing and visitation will take place Tuesday, May 16, 2000 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. S.E. Services will be held Wednesday, May 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5709 Haines Ave. N.E. with Bishop Marlin McNeil officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Robert Shanley, John Mitchell, Allan Colledge, Robert W. Jones, Donald Skabelund, and Brian D. Decker. Honorary pallbearers will be John Halliday, George Ayala, President Cayetano Aguilar, Orville W. Decker, and Steven M. Decker. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 5810 Lomas Blvd. N.E., Albuquerque, NM 87110. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. S.E. is in charge of arrangements.
