Obituary for Baca

Macedonio C. (M.C.) Baca, 87, a lifelong resident of Belen, passed on to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2000, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Our beloved father was born on September 13, 1912 in Belen to Eloisa and Alberto Baca. He was educated in Belen, a graduate of the 1st class of St. Mary School. He started out as a farmer along with his father and went on to become a successful businessman in the community. He was the founder of Baca Oil Co., Baca Auto Sales, Baca Chevrolet, Mt. View Motel, and Whiteway Cafe. He was a member of the original board of directors of Ranchers State Bank. M.C. retired in 198 and spent his remaining years gardening and visiting with his family. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and he and his wife, Angelina served as Padrinos for Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on two separate occasions. He was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and the League of the Sacred Heart. M.C. was preceded in death by his loving wife, Angelina in 1996. M.C. is survived by his seven loving children, his four daughters, Mary Jane B. Sanchez and her husband, Joe, Elsie B. and Marty Sachs, Margaret Baca and her husband, Ned, Tina Baca and her husband, Mike; three sons, Ruben and his wife, Barbara, Leroy Baca and his wife, Sylvia, Mac Baca Jr. and his wife, Anita; his 25 loving grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; his sister, Emily Moya; his two brothers-in-law, Juan Orona and Frank Orona; one sister-in-law, Melinda Orona. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, James Sanchez, Rodney Baca, Bobby Sachs, Paul, Mark, Michael, and Roberto Baca; and great-grandson, Ryan Espinosa. Honorary pallbearers will be his other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his part-time caregiver and neighbor, Lorenzo Zamora. The family requests that donations be made on behalf of M.C. to St. Mary's School."God saw that you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered,"Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
