Obituary for Neill

James McDow Neill, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1984, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Martha Neill of Albuquerque; sons, James M. Neill and wife, Barbara of Blacksburg, VA and Roger J. Neill and Sylvia Kihara of Rockville, MD; daughters, Jean M. Blumenkrantz and husband, Robert of Potomac, MD and JoAnna Kimura and husband, Tetsuro of Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren; Amanda and Jason Neill, Justin, Troy, Tate and Jill Kimura; sister, Margaret M. Neill of Sacramento, CA; and brother, Roger L. Neill of San Jose, CA. Mr. Neill was a native of New Mexico born in La Madeira. He enlisted in the service in January of 1941 and served in the U.S. Army as a Medic during WWII. Mr. Neill graduated from George Washington University in 1949 as a Phi Beta Kappa. After 32 years of service in Human Resource Management, he retired from the National Institutes of Health in 1978. Mr. Neill was involved in many activities after retirement, including The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, ABQ Friends for the Public Library, associate member of the Library of Congress, and volunteering many hours at Inez Elementary School where he taught literature and reading. He was also a good friend of the Heights Seventh-Day Adventist Church. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Height Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 4920 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Wayne Gayton, officiating.
