Obituary for Del Castillo

Harold E. del Castillo Jr. (Buddy; Del, Grandel) passed away on March 14, 2000, in Albuquerque at La Vida Llena, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Millie; children, Ruel del Castillo and wife, Gwen, Paul del Castillo and Anita Adams and husband, Brian; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Sara del Castillo, Terry Fahrenthold and husband, Hugo, Alice Jackson and husband, Sherwood, Penny Christensen and husband, Steve; brother, David del Castillo and wife, Janice; and brother-in-law, George Case. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Helen; and step-mother, Elizabeth; sisters, Helen Brook and Laurel Case. Buddy was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 30, 1920, where he lived for 12 years. The family moved to New Orleans for a short while before moving to Houston, TX. He was graduated from Rice Institute in 1943 with a degree in mechanical engineering and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war he settled in Southern California and worked as an air conditioning engineer. He and his wife, Millie moved to Albuquerque in 1998. There will a memorial service in the chapel at La Vida Llena, 10505 Lagrima de Oro at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 17. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care given Buddy by Amy Ladd and the nursing staff at La Vida Llena Health Care Center. The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his name.
