Obituary for Vertrees

Sylvia I. Vertrees, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983 and formerly of Bentonville, AR, died Thursday, March 9, 2000. She is survived by her son, Charles Vertrees and wife, Julia of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Julia Vertrees and husband, Greg Toney of San Antonio, TX, Charles Vertrees and Jan Fitcha of Tustin, CA, Patricia Espinosa and husband, Gilbert of Clayton, CA, Joseph Vertrees and wife, Janet of Cedar Crest, and Sylvia Crain and husband, Jim of Santa Fe; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Vertrees was preceded in death by her husband, Charles X. Vertrees; and son, Donald W. Vertrees. Mrs. Vertrees was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Spiro Chapter of the Eastern Star in Spiro, OK. Mrs. Vertrees was also a member of the Palo Duro Senior Center where she sang with the Choraleers. Services will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, 6200 Gibson Blvd. SE, with Pastor Larry Castillo-Wilson officiating. Interment will take place Tuesday, 1:00 p.m., at South Park Cemetery in Roswell.
