Obituary for Parkhurst

Christine McLean Parkhurst died August 24, 2000 in Albuquerque. She was born in Rahway, New Jersey in 1951. She was a graduate of the University of Arizona in Fine Arts and received a Masters Degree in Art Therapy from UNM. Christine worked primarily in services for the disabled. She worked at the Independent Living Resource Center and has served as President of the Board of Directors for the last five years. She worked as counselor at Career Services for Persons with Disabilities, and has served on the State of New Mexico Board of Developmental Disabilities Planning Council. She was appointed to and served on the Governor's Commission for the Concerns of the Handicapped. She was named Albuquerque Disabled Professional Woman of the Year 1990-91, by the Pilot Club International. She is survived by her mother, Antoinette Parkhurst of Santa Fe; her brother, Joseph Parkhurst, III of Tucson, AZ and a multitude of devoted friends.
