Vesta G Whiteman, 82, died August 9, 2000 in an automobile accident near Durango, Colorado. Vesta was born July 10, 1918 at the family homestead near Dead Man-Capulin, New Mexico to George Lewis Martin and Georgia Viola Rodarmel. Two sons, Martin Whiteman, of Belen and J.D. Whiteman, of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, survive her. Preceding her in death were her husband, (Clarence Raymond Whiteman); her sister, (Marie Rister); her brother, (Curtis Martin); two sons, Sam Whiteman, and Curtis Whiteman; and a grandson. Cremation has taken place at Hood Mortuary in Durango, Colorado. A Memorial service, which will include spreading her ashes, is scheduled at Terrace Grove Cemetery, in Belen, NM, Saturday, August 19, 2000, at 11:00 a.m.
