Obituary for Olivas

Carmen Olivas, 74, a resident of Long Beach, CA and formerly of the Espanola Valley, passed away in California on Monday, February 28, 2000, following a lengthy illness. She was born to Toribio and Ramona Olivas on July 16, 1925. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two sons, Tony Silva and wife, Susan of Tustin, CA and Louie Silva and wife, Rachael of Long Beach, CA; the father of her children, Joe Silva of Arizona; five grandchildren, Bryana, Louie Jr., Shane, Cody and Lorena, all of California; three sisters, Bernie Jones of Fairview, Prescilla Dominguez and husband, Jose of El Llano, and Lugardita Maestas of Whittier, CA; one brother, Juan Olivas and wife, Dora of El Llano; many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. and a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2000, at Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2000, at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jake, Raymond, Gilbert, and Ross Olivas, Robert Martinez Jr., and James Gallegos.
