Obituary for Romero

Martha D. Romero-Risdal, 86, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, June 24, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Vera Gonzales and husband, Alfred, Martha St. John and husband, Chris, Gloria Morales and husband, Richard, all of Albuquerque, Priscilla Conkrite and husband, Vernard of West Covina, CA; brother, Chris Dovas of La Puente, CA; sister, Rose Baca of Albuquerque; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Romero-Risdal founded and operated senior citizen residential care facilities for 50 years. She was respected and admired by people in her chosen field of gerontology care. She volunteered for unwed mothers organizations. Mrs. Romero-Risdal was a longtime member of V.F.W. Post 401. She was a member of the auxiliary and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Mrs. Romero-Risdal was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. Prayer services will be held Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Ralph Pacheco officiating. Funeral services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Ralph Pacheco officiating. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph Pacheco, Vincent Pacheco, Patrick Ruiz, Sarah Ruiz, Chris Edmondson and Matthew St. John. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Dovas, Chris St. John , Richard Dougherty, and Vernard Conkrite. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Birthright of Albuquerque, 209 Palomas NE 87018.
