Jim Young, 72, a resident of Albuquerque since February 1959, died Saturday, June 24, 2000. He is survived by his daughters, Tina Welker, MD and husband, Frank, Susan Alcon and husband, Rick, all of Albuquerque, and Debra Weeks and husband, Chad of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Sara, Karee, Kristen, Cassie, and Stevie; sisters, Donna Andrews of Dallas, TX and Linda Young of Iowa City, IA. He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Young in 1952; mother, Edith Young in 1947; brother, Robert Young in 1980; second wife, Patricia Young in 1987; and daughter, Lori Lynn in 1960. Mr. Young worked for Sandia Labs for 31 years before retiring in 1990. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and music in which he played with the Barely OK Trio. Jim will be missed by his family, friends, and his good friend, Archie. Cremation has taken place and a reception will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2000, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a Veteran's organization of your choice.
