Stephen William Veitch, of Atherton, California, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Irene Veitch of Balboa, CA; his daughter, Julie Veitch of Carmel, CA; his three grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah, and Kevin Veitch, also of Balboa, CA; and his sister, Caroline Meade of Albuquerque. Mr. Veitch was Chairman of the Board of Van Strum and Towne, Investment Counselors, of San Francisco for whom he worked for 40 years. He was an active member of the Menlo Circus Club, the Villa Taverna, the Pacific Union Club, and the Napoleonic Alliance. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1949 after serving in the Navy during World War II. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, he attended Standford University Law School, graduating in 1957. He served as Chairman of the Board of the Oxnard Foundation and was a board member of the Holt Foundation of Stockton, California. Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 12, at St. Bede's Episcopal Church in Menlo Park.
