Obituary for Carlson (Harris)

Nancy Brayton (Harris) Carlson, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1997 passed away peacefully on January 7, 2000. Nancy was born on September 9, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dean Brayton and Aileen (McLean) Brayton. After graduation from Stanford University she married Thomas W. Harris in 1935. The family moved to southern California in 1945. Nancy was an avid tournament bridge player and a social activist, involved in fund raising for causes such as Polio, children's Cancer, etc. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her first husband, Thomas W. Harris, and her second husband, Lewis O. Carlson. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Donald Brayton and wife, Sally of Los Angeles, California; and her sister, Susan Lipscomb of Miami, Florida. She is also survived by her daughter, Wendy Harris of Seaside, California and her son, Thomas B. Harris and his special friend, Naomi J. Romero of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Brad Tucker (and wife, Ashley), Laura Tucker, John Phillips, Donovan Phillips, and three great-grandchildren, Cache, Kady, and Gabriel; nieces and nephews, Laurel Kent, Mark Lipscomb, and Deborah Perkins. Her family would like to thank the people at Haven Care for helping Nancy spend her last three years with comfort and dignity. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your local Alzheimer's association. A Memorial will be held at a later date in California. Arrangements by Aspen Foundation Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo.
