Obituary for Mcsmith

June Lou McSmith, 75, died at her home in Socorro on December 31, 1999. She moved to Socorro with her husband, Marion in 1946 where they managed New Mexico Boys Ranch before moving to Woodburn, OR in 1961, where they owned and operated. Marion Chevrolet. After the death of her husband if 1978, she returned to Socorro in 1979, where she owned and operated Center Hardware with her sister-in-law, Barbara. She was active in Civitan Club, Past Madam President of the F.O.E. and involved in many other civic activities in Socorro. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Freiley. She is survived by her children, Ann Robins, Bonnie Tornow and husband, Al, all of Salem, OR and Jody McSmith-Byrne and husband, Bobby of Socorro, NM; sisters, Shirley Gatton of Cleburne, TX and Bess Nichols of Bedford, TX; sisters-in-law, Barbara Gibson of Socorro; brothers-in-law, Marvin McSmith and wife, Cliff of Socorro and Paul McSmith and wife, Oppie of Woodburn, OR. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Shanda Williams, Tim Tornow, Jennifer Pollman, Jolie Pollman, Rebecca Greiner, Dino Pollman, Jessie Greiner; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Monday, January 3, 2000 at First Baptist Church, 203 Spring Street, Socorro. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Carl Russell and Rev. Marvin McSmith officiating. Burial will be in Socorro Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Byrne, Al Tornow, Dino Pollman, Jessie Greiner, Tim Tornow, Bruce Williams, Billy Greiner and Benny Nichols. Honorary pallbearers will include Lawrence Hefner, Paul McSmith, Mike Zimmerman, Leo Gatton, Zip Gatton and Tex Loper. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association of New Mexico, 216 Truman NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108 or to a charity of your choice.
