Obituary for Dawson

Robert E. Dawson, 73, was born August 23, 1928 in Longview, TX. He died Tuesday, January 1, 2002 in Albuquerque. Mr. Dawson grew up in Dallas, TX, attending Jesuit High School. He attended Southern Methodist University and the Naval Academy Prep School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a management executive with John Sexton and Company for 39 years. Bob was a Grand Knight, State Deputy and Supreme Warden with the Knights of Columbus; and a tireless worker in many organizations including President of the SERRA club, National Council of Catholic Men, and many charitable and civic organizations, especially for the poor and needy. Mr. Dawson was married to his wife, Mary K., for Fifty exciting and adventurous years. They were blessed with eight children, Barbara and spouse, Charlie Robinson of Plano, TX, Suzanne Dawson of Aubrey, TX, Carolyn and spouse, Chris Johnson of Bay City, TX, Robert Earl Dawson Jr. of Lewisville, TX, Michele and spouse, John Kleiner of Carrollton, TX, Kelly Christopher Dawson of Tyler, TX, Tom Dawson and spouse, Elaine of Farmers Branch, TX and Joseph Dawson of Albuquerque. Bob and Mary K. have 16 grandchildren, Sage, Ryan, Kellie, Luke, Shannon, Christy, Valerie, Alex, Anna, Wyn, Thomas, Milly, Olivia, Audrey, Allison and Laura. Bob was preceded in death by his mother; father; and three sisters. Rosary will be recited Thursday, January 3, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 4, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont NE. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, TX. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Thursday, January 3, 2002, 6:00 p.m. to time of rosary. Bob will be remembered by all he met in life as a dynamic and energetic fellow whose work and good deeds touched many lives. He never met a stranger and had a vivacious appetite for life.
