Obituary for Owen

Tafton Conway "T.C." Owen, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, died Monday, January 21, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Laneive Owen of Albuquerque; daughters, Shari Seamen and husband, Johann F. of Belen, NM and Susan Reese of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Susan Lund and husband, Karl of New Castle, WY, C. Shane Reese and wife, Wendy of American Fork, UT, Hans Seamen and wife, Laura of Belen, NM, Shelby Soto and husband, Marc of Las Cruces, NM, and Emylie Seamen of Salt Lake City, UT; five great-grandchildren, Alex Soto, Madison Reese, Hannah Seamen, Brittany Reese, and Sydney Seamen; sister, Thelma Jorgenson of Logan, UT; sisters-in-law, Cleo Duncan of Canyon, TX and Dorothy Adams of Skellytown, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. T.C. was born and raised on a farm in Preston, ID. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark. He met his wife, Laneive Phillips in Paonia, CO and they were married on October 12, 1940. During WWII, he helped work on the Panama Canal. He returned to Texas and lived in Pampa and Amarillo where he worked in the lumber industry. During this time, he served as the last Branch President and First Bishop of the LDS Church in Amarillo. They moved to Albuquerque in 1977 to be near their family and retired there. At age 72, he and his wife built a cabin in their paradise near Crested Butte, CO where they spent every summer with their family. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Manzano Ward. Dad was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Services will be held Thursday, January 24, 2002, 10:00 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Manzano Ward, 12701 Indian School Rd. NE, with Bishop Al Alvidrez, conducting. Interment will take place Friday, January 25, 2002, 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia, CO. Friends may visit the Relief Society Room, one hour prior to service.
