Obituary for Work

Ralph Owen Work, nickname "Chub," a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on January 29, 2002. He was born September 27, 1924 to Ralph A. and Mary (Mengel) Work in Ft. Morgan, CO. Ralph was raised in Ft. Morgan and after graduating high school, went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Ralph graduated from Colorado State University in 1950 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Sandia National Labs where he held several patents and retired after 36 diligent years of service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Star Heights Ward of Rio Rancho, worked for the Boy Scouts for many years and loved hunting and camping. Ralph is survived by his wife, Lynn Benson-Work; four daughters, Marla Romano, Laurie Mitchell and husband, Gerald, Wendy Palencia and husband, Joe, and Tracy Kolk and husband, Frank; his grandchildren, Jackie and Jonathan Vachon, and Rachel, Megan and Sara Kolk; brothers, Bill and wife, Chris, and John and his wife, Shirley; sisters, Helen, Dot and husband, Don; step-children, Paula Beck, Rocky Rupe, Chris Campbell and Lola Huff. He was preceded in death by his son, Cris; and his twin sister, Gay. Funeral Services for Ralph will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Star Heights Ward, at 2807 19th Ave. SE in Rio Rancho. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Service being held at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will follow and his cremated remains will be scattered on his boyhood farm in Ft. Morgan, CO.
