Obituary for Wade

George E. Wade, Jr., 80, a resident of Albuquerque and native New Mexican, died February 17, 2002. He was born on August 2, 1921 to New Mexico homesteaders and ranchers, Mable Alice Lawing Wade and George Elmer Wade in Hagerman, NM. His early life in ranching and farming paved the way for his love of hunting and the outdoors. He was graduated from New Mexico Military Institute and fought in WWII, receiving commendation metals and the Purple Heart. He continued farming and ranching throughout his life and also owned and operated Wade Equipment, Inc., an International Harvester dealership in Carlsbad, NM for 15 years. After the sale of his business, he worked at various sales positions where he could interact with the ranching and farming community. He had a life-long love of flying and worked as the general manager of International Air Motive and later as an executive corporate pilot in El Paso, TX. His retirement years were filled with skeet shooting, hunting, dancing, playing the stock market, mastering the computer and most importantly, enjoying his family and many grandchildren. He was a consummate supporter of his grandchildren's academic lives and sports endeavors. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Heinrich Wade; daughter, Susanna Busico of Austin, TX; daughter, Brenda Moore and husband, Robert of Albuquerque; daughter, Karen Childress and husband, David Dealy of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Dr. Kristina Busico Metzger and husband, Brian of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer Busico Fleming and husband, Steve of Santa Barbara, CA, Robin M. Moore, Mary Margaret Moore, and Russell W. Moore of Albuquerque, Katherine Childress and Kirk Childress; great-granddaughter, Skyelar Monet Stroud of Dallas, TX. Other survivors include sisters, Ruth ONeal of Albuquerque and Grace Coleman of Roswell, NM; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Calvin Graham of El Paso, TX. A private memorial service will be held Friday, February 22nd, at the home of his daughter in Albuquerque. Interment of cremains will take place at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
