Obituary for Moya-Baca

Susan Moya-Baca, 56, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2002. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and a resident of Adelino, NM. Susan was a licensed cosmetologist working throughout Valencia County. She also worked for the Valencia County Juvenile Detention Center as a detention officer. Susan's pride and joy was when she and her husband, Arnold, decided to open their arms to several foster children that needed a loving home. She loved arts and crafts and was talented in many ways including the ceramic restoration of old statues. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Henita Moya in 1978; her maternal grandparents, Gregorio and Maria Eugenia Salaz; and her paternal grandparents, Perfecto and Anita Moya. She is also preceded in death by many of her loving aunts and uncles. Susan is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Joseph Arnold of the family home in Adelino, NM; her three sons, Mark Torres of Battle Mountain, NV, Daniel Torres and Ivan Torres of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Jason, Lucas, Pablo, Jared, Justin, and Steven; her father, Jack Moya and his wife, Leo of Albuquerque; her sister, Mary Ann Stracener and her husband, Pete, and her loving niece, Jacqueline, all of Drasco, AR. She was blessed by her extended family, Alex and Albert Romero, Frances Castillo, Helen Chavez, and all their families; her father and mother-in-law, Doroteo R. and Carmen Baca of Adelino, NM; six brothers-in-law, Ramon, Patrick and his wife, Annie, Angelo and his wife, Judy, Jacob, George, and his wife, Elizabeth, Charles and his wife, Mary Margaret; and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Baca. She is also survived by her very dear friends, Mary "Nana" Montano and Carmen Montoya. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. Susan never met a stranger and she would always go out of her way to talk and visit with someone she knew, even if it meant making her and Arnold late. With the highest regards to Susan's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2002. A Funeral Mass will also take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
