Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday March 14, 2002

Victor F. Blea, born August 9, 1941, in San Francisco, CA passed away on March 11, 2002 peacefully at home after a long, courageous and stoic battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Marty; two daughters, Shirley Ann Blea of Everett, Wendy F. Blea Davies and son-in-law, Thomas O. Davies of Everett. He also leaves his pride and joy, Florence Elizabeth Blea-Davies, granddaughter. Vic graduated from Menaul High School in Albuquerque and completed one year at the University of New Mexico, finally serving an apprenticeship at Local Union 412, Plumbers and Steamfitters. He became the number one apprentice in the state of New Mexico in 1964. In 1966, he moved his family to Washington becoming a member of Local Union #32 in Seattle. This was the first of many moves throughout the U.S. He loved his trade and was a true craftsman. His other love was baseball, having housed minor league players for Everett Giants and Aquasox. Many of his "boys" are in the majors today. He ensured each had a wonderful minor league experience, receiving photos of themselves that Vic took in a professional manner. Vic was preceded in death by his mother, Adele M. Blea; and son, Victor F. Blea II. He is also survived by other family including his father, Juan A. Blea; brother, Ricky Blea; sister, Patsy Garcia all of New Mexico. He will also be missed by Sherry and Jesse Rios, David C. DeBaca; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Fink, a true friend, Linda and Tito Baca for always being there. We will miss you. ASAP. In lieu of services, per his request, the family asks that you join them for a Celebration of Life at 2522 Virginia Ave., Everett, WA on Saturday, March 16, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
