Obituary for Packard

Marvin Packard, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on March 14, 2002. Marvin was born on March 30, 1927 in Walsenburg, CO. Prior to retirement Marvin had been in the trucking business for over 20 years and then worked as a supervisor for Chevron Oil Refineries for another 20 years. He was proud to have served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He loved to golf, enjoyed traveling all over the United States in his R.V. with his wife, and was very passionate about gardening his beautiful roses. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Marvin is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Lou of Rio Rancho; his four children, Marsha Hamner and husband, Avery of Gig Harbor, WA, Ross Packard of Albuquerque, Marla Packard-Smith and husband, William of Prattville, AL, Marcie Holland of Costa Mesa, CA, and Sherry Wingo of Pueblo, CO; his grandchildren, Dawn Theriault and husband, Doug, Jay Hamner and wife, Kristin, Avy Myklegard and husband, Jason, David Tollerud; and one great-grandchild, Alison Hamner; and a host of very special friends. A Visitation for Marvin will be held on Monday, March 18, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. also in the chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ross Packard, Avery Hamner, William Smith, David Tollerud, Jay Hamner and Lloyd Westphal.
