Obituary for Griego

William G. "Billy" Griego, 69, a resident of Albuquerque for his entire life, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2002. He was born in Albuquerque on February 26, 1933 and attended St. Mary's High School, graduating in 1951. Billy then joined the U.S. Navy. After completing his naval tour of duty, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years. Billy married Ramona Sanchez, and they had two children, Gloria and William Martin. They have one grandchild, Christopher Cowan. Billy served as Commander of American Legion Post 72 and Aide-de-Camp to Department Commander Merrill Norton. He was President of Postal Clerks Union Local 380, as well as President of LULAC. Billy also ran for City Council and County Commission. After leaving the postal service, Billy worked for Bob Garrecht Plumbing Supply as a mechanical salesman for 27 years. He married Ernestine Armijo, and they had one child, Maria Dolores de los Angeles. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal SE, with Father Normand Felardeau and Father Robert Keller, Celebrants. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Griego, Judith Griego-Ruth, Orlando Griego, Rudolph Griego and Fred Griego III.
